Moonbeam Network, a specialized cross-chain connected application Parachain on Polkadot has unveiled new functionality on its network, that can upgrade and improved the existing cross-chain messaging element within the Dotsama ecosystem. The Network’s latest upgrade runtime 1701 will provide continuous access for EVM to leverage the network through XCM on Moonbeam Alpha Testnet, with a plan of adopting this new technology on Moonriver and Moonbeam.
Cross-consensus messaging formats (XCM) is the architectural element that serves as the means for communicating aacross the consensus system on Polkadot Blockchain. This cross-consensus messaging has extended to existing parachains on the ecosystem including Moonbeam. The advancement of XCM allows several cross-connected applications on Moonbeam to explore Polkadot and its existing parachains, hence breathing life to new innovative features, one of which is XCM to EVM call.
XCM to EVM feature is a next-generation innovation on Moonbeam that gives developers from different chains access to Moonbeam’s technological features, such as enabling them to execute logic using substrate-native logic in a trustless environment via moonbeam’s EVM. On-chain developers can also utilize EVM over XCM to access other Networks that provide cross-chain communication. With this feature, Connected smart contracts can have access to the functionality of the Relay chain on Polkadot plus cross-chain features from other multiple chains.
Developers can also utilize this new innovative feature to build new smart contract dApps with the best user experience coupled with cross-chain communication to other multiple projects.
